configure a network

i'am a newbie in virtualbox
and i have a question

i'm workin in a pc with win xp
and i install red hat 9 in the virtual machine

I'm trying to connect the host and the vm in a netowrk
i create a interface called Virtualbox 1

and choose the option host interface
i run the v machine

and configure the ip address 192.168.0.6 255.255.255.0
my address 192.168.0.3 255.255.255.0
the firewall is down

i try to ping in rh9 and i get destination host unreachable

i need help
