Can't open file dialog and wrong window size

Post by HaChuCat »

OS:Windows 7 SP1 Ultimate
VirtualBox version is 4.3.26

1. If i want choose ISO file to install OS, but cannot open file dialog window (no any file dialog window displayed)
2. VM window size is wrong. should be auto adjuct to same size with guest screen (guest OS screen/window very small, need zoom manually)
3. Other Error Message (like 0x000000 this address cannot be write)

Install the guest additions in the guest. Calling it a bug is disingenuous.

After looking at your video, I see that you activated "Adjust Window Size" and then "Full Screen" (assuming the menu order in Chinese Virtualbox - looks like Chinese? - is the same as English Virtualbox). That setting depends on the Guest Additions, as Lou says, which need to be installed in the guest after the OS is installed in the guest. If you deactivate that "Adjust Window Size" and "Full Screen" you may be able to get the guest window to return to normal size.

You can also insert a CD in the guest CD drive from the main Virtualbox window, Storage Settings, click the CD drive, see the far right side, there's a little CD picture with a dropdown triangle showing. Click that and you can pick an iso for your guest. Do this before running the guest and the guest should boot to the iso.

Try to fix those things before dealing with the 000000000 error.

I really wish users would read the user manual, follow what it says before saying software has a "bug".

but as the saying goes, "if wishes were horses, beggars would ride".

I have the same problem. Happened to me a few times, usually I just reinstall Windows but since I installed it a few weeks ago, I don't want to scrap it. Has anybody an idea of how to fix this? I tried to delete the windows size & position cache via CCleaner, didn't work...
