Hi Again!

Test build #9: https://www.virtualbox.org/download/tes ... 95-Win.exe

Fixes since test build #8:
- Attempt at working around the BSODs users of Trend Micro's Data Loss Prevention Endpoint product(s) and some Digital Guardian product(s).

@rnewman, @RelakS: Would be really nice if you could both give this build a spin...

Enjoy,
bird.

Bird, please find attached two minidumps for build 96468.
100914-33774-01.dmp - after install and run
100914-35459-01.dmp - after repair install and run
I made the repair installation because when I tried previously without it I wasn't able to remove VBox 4.3.17 at all.

Unfortunately, build 96495 awarded another minidump. Please find it attached as well.

Perfect, test build #9 is working fine for me (Windows 7 SP1 does not have security software).
After, will test Windows 7 SP1 have security software and Windows 8.1 have security software.

Hi All!

Test build #10: https://www.virtualbox.org/download/tes ... 01-Win.exe
- Problem with ATI drivers on XP/XP64/W2K3.
- Modified workaround for dgmaster.sys and sakfile.sys BSODs.

@rnewman, @RelakS, @frg: Would be cool if you could check this build out in the next couple of hours...

Cheers,
bird.

Just checked it out briefly and seems to work. Thanks.

Vista 3D ist still broken with the latest Virtualbox extensions but this is a different issue which has already been reported by someone else.

Windows 7 Professional SP1 64bit
TrendMicro OfficeScan 11.0.1454
Virtualbox 4.3.17 test build #10

Well making progress, the host doesn't hang and reboot any more.
However, I do get an error starting a VM. The error dialog box and virtualbox startup logs are attached.

- Host: Win7 64bit Home Premium (fresh install on newly bought SSD, thus the need to reinstall VBox).
- VBoxStartup.log attached is from trying Build #9, (with AVG tmp disabled - although not sure it worked)
- Host virus software: AVG Free 2015.0.5315

Some context:
Initially with With VBox 4.3.16-95972, Guest: Kunbuntu 14.04.1.
Get to login screen, enter password, but then stays on default background screen, with some initial hard disk 'blinks', then nothing.

Looking at the logs, I found supR3HardenedMonitor_LdrLoadDll: rejecting SiteAdvisor (Free FF plugin) which lead me to this thread. I uninstalled SiteAdvisor for now.

Tried:
- Build #10, Build #9, same results.
- Disabled AVG temporarily with Build #9, same results.
- Tried 4.3.14-95030 hell broke loose.

Next test - will uninstall AVG and see.
If you require further info, let me know.

Edit: with AVG uninstalled, it still doesn't work (Build #10 tried). Would that indicate that mine is a different issue? (Startup log with no AVG attached as well.)

Edit 2: AVG installed again, Build #10 fresh install, new Kubuntu VM without 'download updates during install' => Works.
At this stage (and with build #10) I believe my issue is with Kubuntu itself, not Vbox.

Hi All!

VBox 4.3.18 is out. We'll close this thread and create a 4.3.18 specific one for tracking remaining problems. ( viewtopic.php?f=6&t=64111 )

Just for the record, there were a few fixes after test build #10. Would be nice if @rnewman and @RelakS would give it a spin as I've made some changes to the hang/reboot/BSOD kludge.

@Mucky: Great that it works for you now.
@numb3rs666: Glad to hear it works for you too.
@eb: Good to hear that it's not vbox. :-)
@frg: ATI+XP works, that's good. Sorry to hear there are more issues (though forgive me if I'm happy they're not security related and I don't have to fix them).
@Jacob Klein: Thanks for testing!

@just_to_report_a_bug: Some of the Comodo products (I don't know which exactly you're runnig) wants to sandbox things or modify files on the fly. Most Sandboxing solutions aren't good enough to contain VBox, so don't let it do that. Modifying files on the fly while we read them makes it impossible to verify digital signatures, since these depends on the file being unmodified. Please check the Defense+Events log in Combo (tasks -> general tasks -> view logs) to see what it's doing and what you need to tweak.

Enjoy,
bird.
