**Update #3 Test**
Install went without issue.

However, when an attempt to start a VM, the system hangs then reboots.

Windows 7 Professional SP1 64bit
TrendMicro OfficeScan 11.0.1454
Virtualbox 4.3.16

No logs to attach as none were created.

I upgraded from Test Build #1 to #3 (skipped #2) and am pleased to report that everything appears to still be working.
My configuration is Windows 7 64-bit, SP1 with Avast! Internet Security

To reiterate I was having similar issues as Robee with the 4.3.16 release, ie. unable to shutdown Windows, etc. It was fixed by Test Build #1.

Test Build #3 4.3.17.96101 works on my PC. Tested with my Windows 7 32 bit VM and a Windows XP VM inside that Windows 7 VM. Host is Windows 7 SP1 64 bit Home Pemium running Norton Internet Security 2014.

As a note, when I originally tried 4.3.16 and it didn't work, I had to do a System Restore to get 4.3.12 working again. Just uninstalling 4.3.16 and re-installing 4.3.12 wouldn't work. So if some folks can't get a particular test build to work, they might won't to create a restore point before trying it. Then if it doesn't work, try uninstalling it and try re-installing 4.3.12. If 4.3.12 doesn't work, they might want to do a System Restore to get things going in the right direction again. Then try a new test build when it comes, with creating a restore point before trying it. Just an idea that might be helpful to some folks.

Yes. 4.3.17 DOES fix the problem for Windows 7/SP1/64 Bit! Uninstalled 4.3.14, do a new install.

Can we get 4.3.17 extensions?

Additional fun that when I close the Virtual Box Manager window, it stays in the memory sometimes. I haven't found it out when yet, but after installation for sure.

The previous build (#2) broke things for all avast users. Frightfully sorry about that. Here is a new build that fixes that blunder.

Test build #3: VirtualBox-4.3.17-96101-Win.exe

@RobBrownNZ, @spider38: Please try the new build, it should fix the problem you were seeing with build #2.

@derscherjm, @Limeroli, @rnewman, @Gurvender.Bahia, @mattsnowboard: Would be great if you could take the new build for a spin.

Cheers,
bird
The revised test build #3 (96101) has fixed the installer error but introduced a different error when trying to start a VM:
VBox 4.3.17-96101 error when attempting to start VM.png
VBox 4.3.17-96101 error when attempting to start VM second dialogue box.png
VBoxStartup (2).zip
To save hunting through previous posts, OS is Windows 7 Professional 64-bit with Avast.

I uninstalled VirtualBox, rebooted and re-installed but with the same error occurring.
@bird: Any thoughts on this, is there another test build on the way for me to try?

Just wanted to inform anyone that 4.3.17 worked for me with the verr_supdrv_apiport_open_error I was receiving on 4.3.16 on Windows 7 64bit under both vagrant and the virtualbox GUI.

This version is not posted on the VirtualBox website (that I can see) and I had to download it from this forum directly.

Hope this helps others out...

Folks: I have and continue to delete off topic posts, including those asking for progress updates. The requirements for posting in this topic are given in the first post. Anything else is likely to be deleted.

New test builds will appear as and when the devteam feels like that would be useful.
