Genymotion cannot obtain IP address!

Post by ChairmanSaab »

Hello,

i'm trying to use Genymotion with virtualbox, It was working fine before until i uninstalled both genymotion and virtualbox( I didn't feel like i need it)

Since, i've installed them again (i wanted to play with genymotion emulators), My genymotion is not able to start properly.

I'm getting this error : The genymotion virtual device could not obtain an IP address.

FOr an unknown reason, Virtualbox DHCP has not assigned an IP address to virtual device, RUN the virtual software to check for issues.

I've tried deleting host-only adapter in File>pereferences>Network>Host-only Networks, but was unsuccessful.
It always re-create it but genymotion pops up with same error.
Also tried, turning on DHCP in same setting, and filled it with 192.168.1.102 server address and 192.168.1.103 and 192.168.1.254 address for Last too column with submask 255.255.255.0 but it's still not working and give the same error.

I don't know what to do now. I'm On wireless lan and IPv4 address is 192.168.1.102 and default geteway is 192.168.1.1

Also, my system doesn't need DHCP server since Router does it automatically, so i haven't filled it in Networking and options.

Is there anyway , i can make Genymotion to work as it should? It was working flawlessy before i uninstalled it (i'm regretting now!)

Operating system,Windows 8 SIngle Language.
6GB ram and AMD processor
Thanks!
PS: if you guys need logs of genymotion, please letme know how to find it, i'll upload ASAP

From the hosts terminal/command window type VBoxManage showvminfo <VM Name> --details and post here. Replace <VM Name> with the actual name of the VM. Use " " if the name has a space in it.

Note if the host is Windows you need to be in the directory that has VBoxManage.exe for the command to work.

Assuming that the application is actually looking for a DHCP server you would need to use Bridged mode to achieve an address. NAT does not nor will host-only provide one to the application.

Unfortunately, It is not working, I tried Bridge mode with Nat enabled and disabled in adapter 2, Nothing. I deleted host-only completely. But still receiving same error.

Luckily i had backup of Genymotion VM (moto x ) that i created when i uninstalled it, (Thought it would delete VM too, but it didn't, So didn't need to download it again)

I'd backup of genymotion i've Old log files when my genymotion vm was working with Virtualbox, They are Logcat.txt and vbox.log

Here it's seems to offer DHCP

vbox.log shows that host-only adapter was selected ?

Never mind, i fixed it!

Same issue here. In my case it happening on Kubuntu 14.04.3+VirtualBox 4.3.26 and Kubuntu 15.10+VurtualBox 5.0.2, both systems is x86_64 and running inside KVM. This two VMs configured to access main network via Open vSwitch bridge. Just in case, there is no 192.168.56.0/24 networks around here.
