Hi

Running Windows 7 pro Version 6.1 (7601 SP1 64bit) in Admin group
All ran well, until:
updating Virtual Box to 4.3.14 + addon

Error Box:
Caption: VirtualBox.exe - Ungültiges Bild (Invalid image?)
C:\PROGRA~2\KEYCRY~1\KEYCRY~4.dll
is not intended to be run under windows (i got the meassage in german)...

This belongs to Zemana AntiLogger Free (pay attention to the letters "free" as there is a runtime limited version too)
I upgraded to
Zemana AntiLogger Free (1.7.2.370)
After that, i get
VirtualBox.exe - Ungültiges Bild (Invalid image?)
C:\PROGRA~2\KEYCRY~1\KE6D28~1.dll

Fullname:
c:\Program Files (x86)\KeyCryptSDK\KeyCrypt64(2).dll 2014-05-07
The Antilogger "hooks" into the Windows link sometimes used by root kits.
HKLM\Software\Microsoft\WindowsNT\CurrrentVersion\Windows\ REG_SZ AppInit_DLLs

Regardless which VM i try to start i get always the error like
---------------------------
VirtualBox - Error In supR3HardenedWinReSpawn
---------------------------
<html><b>Error relaunching VirtualBox VM process: 5<br>
Command line: '81954AF5-4D2F-31EB-A142-B7AF187A1C41-suplib-2ndchild --comment

And now?

Tried to remove Zemana AntiLogger:
It said it did, but there are still links in the registy.
At least the first error box disappeared now, but still can' start any VM.
Went back to 4.3.12:
All works well. Thanks a lot all supporters!

Hi

Trying the test version 4.3.15-95171-Win on windows 7 Home Premium x64 with AVG free also installed is MS Windows 7+8.1 SDK, ATI Catalyst Driver 13.9, Cygwin, MinGW, Java SDK, and quite a few other development tools....
I can launch the GUI manager, but not start any VM as it result in the same error as with release version 4.3.14

If anyone is wondering... the reason why VirtualBox 4.3.14 will not be withdrawn is here: http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/topic ... 72956.html
Please note that any further detail cannot be and will not be provided via this forum, but Oracle customers may request additional information through existing support channels.
We are not happy about the problems 4.3.14 is causing for Windows users either, but we unfortunately have no choice. All we can do is fix the issues one by one, and we are working on that.
@michaln: Maybe my English is too bad, but what will happen here ? No more work on this problem for non-commercial and registered users ?
Or will you provide new test-builds so that the community can test these for you, free of charge ? If you have a new test-build just post it here
or send me link, I would test it quickly for you (with public or private feedback to you).

Not sure where that came from. No one said any such thing. All I hinted at was that rants from non-paying users don't help anyone.

We just provided a link to a test build about 3 hours ago (a few post up in this thread). Perhaps you already tried it, but we can't produce new builds (including actual fixes) that fast, sorry :)

We certainly appreciate feedback on the test build, and will continue putting up new ones, although we'll have to see how to best manage this since distilling information from this thread is getting increasingly difficult.

Yes, I tried it, but sadly it didn't work (see viewtopic.php?f=6&t=62615&start=195#p293936).
And I don't expect new test-builds every hour ... every 2 hours should be enough...

I tried the 4.3.15r95171 test build. BOINC could no longer detect that VirtualBox was installed, and VM tasks indicated "Detection of Hypervisor failed." The 4.3.14r95030 build did not have this problem. I have additionally contacted BOINC developers to investigate.

Sounds like this would be a perfect reason for a VB fork to start.

Sort of why LibreOffice was started. Maybe we need LibreBox.

Hi,

I am a normal use who is also affected by this issue. I am not trying to complain about the free lunch. Just had one non-technical comment.
Since this bug affects many of the Windows users and so far there is no quick solution yet. Would it be possible to put a short announcement to warn the Windows users on the homepage or the download page?

BTW, my configuration:
Anti-virus: McAfee VirusScan Enterprise v8.8
Host OS: Windows 7 Ultimate/Enterprise
Guest OS: Ubuntu

Thanks.

Once again... if you're an Oracle customer, please contact your support representative. If you're not, please understand that you can take a free product or leave it, but you have no leverage to make any demands.

I got this problem "error in supr3hardenedwinrespawn" in two cases:

1º- Making fully updates (there is some kb that crashes VB)
2º- Installing Kaspersky Internet Security (even if I disable it VB not works. It only works again if I remove kaspersky)

Can somebody do this tests to see if this sintoms seem equals mine ?

Thanks.

I'm seeing the issue even before I get a chance to start any of my VM's as I cannot even get VirtualBox 4.3.14 to show me its main interface.

I have two different files which cause this issue:

1) guard32.dll from COMODO (Virustotal - /en/file/2565530eac44729bfdcd83d575fa2b674af939bd46d792b749bf5f6e97faf437/analysis/)

2) wfx.dll from WindowFX/Stardock (Virustotal - /en/file/008a8e87423973225edf8bf433007c6a161b84813b38e18c0e8a66e886f6eb35/analysis/1406132869/). This is not an antivirus but hooks on windows to apply a shadow effect.

How did you discover that this two files was causing the problem ?

By stopping them from starting automatically (with Autoruns), vbox works.

Also, I know their function. They both hook on application initialization in order to perform their functions. Guard32.dll is very important for Comodo in order to make sure software doesn't do nasty stuff. And wfx.dll is needed to apply the shadows on my Windows XP system.
