Wake on LAN Virtual Machine

Post by DocBrown »

It appears from my research that VB does not support WOL on guests. I also found the following app that appears to fit the bill. Anyone have experience with this and know/believe that this SW is safe?

Thanks,

Further to my Previous post Yes it works!

You need to go in to options and set the desired port number

The site is back up as of this posting. This tool appears to recognize the target system based on the configured MAC address and launches the VBoxManage.exe command with appropriate parameters. But, I have encountered one serious limitation for me. The environment I am using to try and wake up the VMs is sending multiple wake up packets in rapid succession. It appears to be calling VBoxManage each time it receives a wake up packet directed at the same VM. This seems to confuse VBoxManager which generates errors and fails to launch the VM.

I've been working with the developer but so far don't have a resolution that will work for me.
