[SOLVED] Failed to open a serssion for virtual machine ....

Post by JoelParke »

I no longer can even create a single Virtual machine. Once this started, I have
1. unistalled, rebooted, and reinstalled VirtualBox 4.2.4 -- no help!
2. deleted all associated directories, etc.. -- no help!

At this point I have the .vdi disks that I want to resume using, but nothing helps. All I get is:

Failed to open a session for the virtual machine fgfdsg.
Failed to assign the machine to the session (Unknown Status 0x80004005).
Result Code: VBOX_E_VM_ERROR (0x80BB0003)
Component: Machine
Interface: IMachine {22781af3-1c96-4126-9edf-67a020e0e858}
Callee RC: E_FAIL (0x80004005)

What can I do to fix this???
This is crazy... Is there hidden info the the registry... why doesn't an uninstall and reinstall after reboot fix this????

I found a tiny bit more information -- perhaps?

I attempted to create a new VirtualMachine using my old .vdi disk. NOW the message is a little bit different.. in what it displays... Perhaps this is a hint in terms of the program code.

Failed to create a new virtual machine Ubuntu.

Runtime error opening 'D:\Users\Joel\VirtualBoxVMs\Ubuntu\Ubuntu.vbox-tmp' for reading: -103 (Path not found.).

D:\tinderbox\win-4.2\src\VBox\Main\src-server\MachineImpl.cpp[9483] (long __cdecl Machine::saveSettings(bool *,int)).

Details:
Failed to open a session for the virtual machine Ubuntu.

Failed to assign the machine to the session (Unknown Status 0x80004005).

Result Code: VBOX_E_VM_ERROR (0x80BB0003)
Component: Machine
Interface: IMachine {22781af3-1c96-4126-9edf-67a020e0e858}
Callee RC: E_FAIL (0x80004005)

Maybe someone can make sense of this???

Thanks!

Chapter 10.1.3: Global configuration data. By default, "$HOME/.VirtualBox"

I solved that by repair VirtualBox. reboot the server and remote connect the vm to start.

VirtualBox 5.2.12
When I shutdown my VM I've got :
Failed to get a console object from the direct session (RPC_E_DISCONNECTED).
Result Code:
VBOX_E_VM_ERROR (0x80BB0003)
I solved this problem when I deleted all files (except VirualBox.xml) in %USERPROFILE%\.VirtualBox
