Windows 8 and Acceleration tab

Hello. I have problem with already many versions Virtualbox on Windows 8 Enterprise x64. I thank that it will be repear but already version 4.2 is released and bug stay.

Acceleration tab in VirtualBox is not available.

My computer is HP 630 with i3 370M. VT-x is enabled in BIOS. I have two OS on HDD - Windows 7 Ultimate x64 too and I have not problems in Windows 7 with acceleration: all works fine. And Im using Hyper-V in Windows 8 without problems too.

I tried to reinstall virtualbox and to remove profile-folder of VirtulalBox (in Users folder of Win) but Acceleration tab still not available.

Do you have ideas? Thank you.

Hello! I removed Hyper-V feature from Programs and Features -> Turn Windows features on or off and Acceleration tab in VirtualBox is enabled now!! :)

You already found the solution yourself, but let me explain. Hyper-V uses the virtualization extensions of your processor and you can't share them with other virtualization software like VirtualBox. In order to use VirtualBox you need to temporarily disable or permanentely deinstall Hyper-V.

Off-topic and for your information: If you consider to use Hyper-V while VirtualBox is installed then you will notice networking problems. This is because the Hyper-V Extensible Switch conficts with the VirtualBox Bridged Networking Driver. Disable the latter in the properties page of the network bridge.
