I previously installed Ubuntu on my PC before i knew about Virtual Box. Is there any way that i could use my previous installation via Virtual Box?

Not directly. You may be able to first convert the install with VMWare then convert the VMWare image to a virtual box image ...

VirtualBox 1.4 will let you access raw partitions. Check the user manual for information on how to do this.
