I installed ubuntu 7.10 desktop version with an iso file, it ran perfectly, except when I did the updates or downloade programs and then rebooted the machine it would go back to the original setup. I think it was because, in effect it was running it like a live mode and booting with the iso file each time. So then I deleted that machine and went ahead and installed the same operating system into a new virtual machine. Now I cannot get out onto the net or update or anything. Anyone know why? the network card appears to be set up. I have even tried adding a host adapter to no avail. Any help would be great.
