Fedora Core 6 installs but won't boot

Post by lisadurham »

Host: Visa Business
Guest: Fedora Core 6

I created a new vm and installed Fedora Core 6, however, it will not boot up now and crashes VirtualBox completely. It starts to boot, but then crashes shortly after.

I've uploaded a screenshot to http://www.natec.net/vbox.png
and the vbox.log at http://www.natec.net/vbox.log

Can anyone point me in the right direction for the next step? I've tried setting the affinity on virtualbox.exe one cpu, tried both cpu0 only and cpu1 only, but that didn't help. I've also tried setting the affinity to one cpu only on Vboxsvc.exe. I'd read somewhere online that AMD 64 X2 cpu's were an issue for virtualbox and it was suggested to try setting it to run on one cpu only. This didn't help in my situation.

Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I think the problem is you try to run a xen kernel. Try a standard kernel without the wen possibility.

It appears you were right. I was googling how to replace the kernel and decided to walk through the insallation again so I popped the disk in and booted up, Fedora offered to "upgrade", which I thought was odd because it was the very same disk I used to install, anyway, it installed another kernel and I selected it on reboot and it worked.

Thank you so much for taking a moment to point me in the right direction!
