VBox Manager crash

I´ve had the problem in previous version already, but now with the new version, it´s extended.
When closing a VM I get a message "Oracle VM VirtualBox Manager has encountered a problem and needs to close."
I´ve searched through similar topics, where the answers are mostly related to the guest OS in use, but that´s not the problem.

In my case I´ve installed a fresh Windows7 Ultimate 64bit on a blank harddisk, including system drivers like chipset and graphics.
Then I´ve installed VB 4.1, including extension pack, created a new VM with standard settings for an XP guest.
After XP installation I´ve installed guest additions (without 3D support) and shut down the VM right after.
That´s where the error occurs.

In previous version I didn´t bother, because the VM´s keep running fine and I didn´t find any kind of problem, but this time Windows told me, it has applied some compatibility settings to the exe to prevent the error and that sounds scary for a program that´s supposed to run without restrictions.

Anything I can do?

Update:
After a few days of experimenting, it seems the problem comes from the mouse or capturing the mouse in a VM without guest additions.

In the old version of VB, before installing guest additions, the mouse would behave strange within the guest window.
When capturing the mouse in the guest, it would slow down to about 1/2 speed, it would show up in the very bottom left corner of the guest and when moving over the window after about 1/2 the distance to the other side the mouse pointer would freeze within the guest and a 2nd pointer would appear outside the guest, meaning the top half and the right half of the guest window were not reachable for the mouse without guest additions.

In the new version of VB this problem didn´t exist on start, whether captured in the guest window or outside, the mouse would behave the exact same, but after installing guest additions the manager would crash upon closing the VM.

After Windows has applied "compatibility settings" to the manager, the mouse behavior is the same as in the old version of VB (a mess without guest additions and working fine with guest additions installed) and the manager doesn´t crash anymore.

Anyone care to explain?

Hello,

I have same problem. But I have no feeling that it is connected with mouse. Did you check windows logs? In my case VirtulBox.logs are without any error. What is bad, data of guest (window XP sp2 32bit) are inconsistent during these went downs. That freezing I experience in avergae 1/hour!

In application log (from windows 7 64bit SP1 = from host) there is error 1000 with details:

Path to application in error state: C:\Program Files\Oracle\VirtualBox\VirtualBox.exe
Path to module in error state: C:\Windows\SYSTEM32\ntdll.dll
Message ID: 5ccbe13e-c75b-11e0-8616-9b4aad31985f

(as I have it in my native lanuguage, I had to translate it to English)

I tried version 4.1.0 (and from yesterday also 4.1.2), but same experience. In that status is not possible to use virtualbox for any serious work.

Could you please check your application logs?
