Snapshots problem: VBOX_E_OBJECT_NOT_FOUND (0x80BB0001)

Code: Select all

Could not find an open hard disk with UUID {691876a1-1854-4c75-a6fa-92d462ae3437}.
Codice 'uscita:
VBOX_E_OBJECT_NOT_FOUND (0x80BB0001)
Componente:
VirtualBox
Interfaccia:
IVirtualBox {d2de270c-1d4b-4c9e-843f-bbb9b47269ff}
Since upgrading to Virtualbox version 4.0.4, this error happens frequently (at least 1 time every 2 days). The virtual machine "WINXP" becomes inaccessible because it can't find the snapshot; I have only one snapshot! To solve the problem at the moment I have to delete the virtual machine, delete the snapshot and create a new virtual machine using the existing disc. But the next day back to the usual problem !

Can someone help me? :|

Virtualbox version = 4.0.4
HOST = Win7 X64 Ultimate

-EDIT-
Indeed there is no snapshot in the folder, and there is NO MACHINE !!!!
%userprofile%/.VirtualBox/Machines
It seems to have deleted itself

I found that from version 4 the default folder for Virtual Machines is located here:
%userprofile%/VirtualBox VMs rather than "%userprofile%/.VirtualBox/Machines" (as I wrongly said before)

Well, inside this folder I found a lot of trash of all virtual machine created each time I got that error! So I've cleaned it all; for now it works! I Hope!

Nothing to do, the problem persist!
It seems that virtualbox changes the name of the snapshot by itself. I didn't touch anything. I turned on the PC, started virtualbox and this is the screenshot:

Can anyone help me?
I suppose this is a bug :roll:

I have exactly same issue - upgrade to 4.0.4 yesterday - came to start today and none of the drives are attached. An advise on how to fix or for temporary workaround would be greatly appreciated.

I am having the exact same problem. I typically can fix this by changing the machine's XML config to use a different snapshot ID. Eventually I get one that allows me to start the virtual machine.

This is very frustrating, though, as this behavior happens often.

I ran into this issue today, and fixed it by going to File->Preferences->General, and changing my Default Machine Folder back to "%userprofile%/.VirtualBox/Machines".

Hopefully this works for everyone here, too!

That's interesting, same problem here and I also moved the machines to a different place! But I cannot move them back, there's not enough space.

Same problem. I've been using vbox 3.2.x on Arch Linux v2.6.37 up until a week or so ago when I upgraded to v4.0.4. I had no problems with vbox 4.0.4 for the last week or so, until this evening. Now I have this on one of my VMs:

Could not find an open hard disk with UUID {55b72c4b-6cd3-4253-902f-e55ecb828cf1}.
Result Code: VBOX_E_OBJECT_NOT_FOUND (0x80BB0001)
Component: VirtualBox
Interface: IVirtualBox {d2de270c-1d4b-4c9e-843f-bbb9b47269ff}

I have a 55b72c4b-6cd3-4253-902f-e55ecb828cf1.vdi in ~/VirtualBox VMs/<name>/Snapshots
The original HD vdi exists in ~/.VirtualBox/HardDisks

In my case, I took a snapshot of this vm yesterday, and had to cold-boot my computer this evening. So maybe the lack of an orderly shut-down after taking the snapshot is the cause of this?

Any suggestions?

I have absolutely the same problem, I'm using version 4.0.4 since 1 month and it worked very well until yesterday. It appeared an error "the virtual machine is not accessible" and the following code:
Could not find an open hard disk with UUID {3106fa48-9587-44cd-9f30-f0708e69a323}.
Fehlercode: VBOX_E_OBJECT_NOT_FOUND (0x80BB0001)
Komponente: VirtualBox
Interface: IVirtualBox {d2de270c-1d4b-4c9e-843f-bbb9b47269ff}
My host system is Win 7 64bit and the guest system is Win XP
Are there any ideas how to solve this problem?

Sorry, should have posted here to. See my reply here:

My host is Arch Linux, but as I recall the author of the post I reference was running vbox on Win7.
