[Solved] Menu bar does not show up in Ubuntu 10

I have Ubuntu 10 running as a guest inside a Windows 7 Pro 64 bit host. When I start Ubuntu in full screen mode I can see the menu at the bottom of the screen, but after I've logged into Ubuntu, the menu bar is gone. I realize it's supposed to stay out of the way, so it goes away on its own, but no matter where I put the mouse I can't get the menu bar to show up.
I can press "Host F" to get out of Full Screen mode & everything else seems to work as it should. I originally installed Ubuntu 10 VM on another system & another version of VB. I saved the hard drive & set up a new Ubuntu session & just used the hard drive from the old session. As I said, everything else appears to be working fine.
Although I don't remember specifically that it worked originally, I'm "pretty sure" it did. I have 5 guests installed, including Windows 7 Pro (32 bit), Windows 2003 Server, Windows 2008 Server, Windows XP & Solaris 10 & the menu bar shows up on all of the others.
Does anyone have any idea why the bar doesn't show up or how I can get it to show up?
