Hi,

So I am running http://www.nvidia.com/object/win7-winvi ... river.html on Windows 7 x64.

probably the same issue as in OpenGL extensions viewer.

had no issues with opengl games though.

reopen it, its not a driver bug, its virtualbox crashing because of too many extensions.

amusing how 100% of opengl games and applications work, but only virtualbox and opengl extension viewer have issues (not)

VirtualBox v3.2.8 runs fine on my laptop under Win7 Pro x64 with the most recent WHQL release of ForceWare -- v258.96

260.63 is a beta. Betas are expected to have problems. That's why they're betas: you're supposed to help find and report the bugs. Hopefully Oracle and Nvidia will be able to fix the incompatibilities before the final release.

258.96 has less opengl extensions than 260.63. (258 is limited to 4.0, 259/260 has 4.1 extensions)

Every other opengl demo, application, game and test runs on 260.63 barring opengl extension viewer, which has had to release a new build everytime nvidia pushes out a new release 250 driver of late

current extension count is 221, 257-258 was 211.

occurs in the quadro certified 260.78, i can definitely state for certainty that there is nothing wrong with the OpenGL ICD at this point.

nvidia wouldn't post it as a quadro driver if opengl was borked.

Nvidia has changed how the Threaded Optimisations are applied when set to Auto, this was to address low gpu usage in several high profile titles, the unfortunate thing is that some applications that were compatible with the previous method are broken with the improved(fixed) method.

Until Oracle fixes the way they are using opengl (and it IS an issue in Vbox's opengl use as the only other app with this issue is RealtekVR's opengl viewer, no games, benchmarks or 3D Tools are affected) you can work around this by creating a VirtualBox profile in the NVCP and setting Threaded Optimisation to either On, or Off.

War, creative a profile for VirtualBox in nvcp, and set Threaded Optimisation to On or Off.

My older cards (GF8200 IGP & GF9600GT OC) had driver v258.96 (IIRC) worked fine.

ps - I just noticed on Nvidias site there are now WHQL 260.99 now released. I didn't know the 260.89 were not WHQL.

the only other application that suffers from this is Realtech VR extension viewer's tests.
