Hi,
my PC has two network cards. The first adapter is used for my normal usage. I will use the second one only for my virtual machine.
Adapter1: 192.168.0.2
Adapter2: 192.168.0.3
I disable the VirtualBox Host-Only Network, because I use the bridge configuration in the vm network settings. In the virtual machine, I use a static IP configuration but it is not possible to use the same IP like in the host system. So the ip of the vm is
VM: 192.168.0.4
Ok, know it works. I can find the pc in the network, but the server can't connect to the internet. Windows say, that the the DNS Server isn't available. I use the same setting like on the host system. Have any an idea how to solve the problem?
I just want to have the server in the same network. I think it is a good solution to use my second network adapter, but I don't know why I can't connect to the internet.
best regards,
neon

Re: No internet connection with a bridge network
Double check your adapter type. Under Network->Advanced->Adapter Type. I have mine set to Intel PRO 1000 MT Desktop (default) and the vm's are able to connect to the internet under a bridge network.

Check for firewall issues and make sure you defined a DNS server that sees the outside world on the guest.

Re: No internet connection with a bridge network
If you are planning to use one NIC exclusively for your guest OS, it does not need an IP when viewed from the host. Having two NICs in the host OS with IPs in the same IP subnet can lead to name resolution problems for the host. See this post on how to dedicate one NIC to the host and one to the guest in Windows 7.

Your setup should work fine. Your server should look just like an additional server on your LAN. What DNS server is it set to use? Your router or your ISP's DNS should work fine. So should a public DNS service like 4.2.2.2 .
