RPC_E_SERVERFAULT

Post by Ron Kraaijkamp »

Dear Virtual Box,

first congratulations with your excellent product.

In the past I stalled Windows XP NL (dutch version) in a VBox session.
All worked fine and smoothly.

Now I had to re-arrange my harddisks and bought an external disk. The images are copied from the internal harddisk partition to the external harddisk. The path remained the same (I re-arranged it in Windows XP).

But now I cannot attach the existing images in VBox. I select New-> type the name of the existing OS (Windows XP NL) -> Select OS type -> define the same amount memory as the existing image -> Select the right Harddisk image -> Finish.

The next error occurs:
Callee RC: RPC_E_SERVERFAULT (0x80010105)

Do you have any idea what I am doing wrong or what the problem is?

Thanks in advance,
Best regards,

Hi Sticky-fingers,

thank you for your reply.

I also checked the VirtualBox.xml file. All links (src="...") are relative to the location of the VirtualBox.xml file. And they are allright.

What did you actually change in your situation?

Thank you,
Best regards,

When you create a new machine with the existing hd.vdi, be sure that [...]VirtualBox\Machines\machine_name\ isn't present.

Hi Sticky-fingers,

thank you for your reply.

The entry does not exist. And the error keeps popping up.

Maybe I better start all over again with my images.

Hi Sticky-fingers,

I solved the problem with the program VirtualBoxCloneVDI, which you can use to copy your VDI. I gave it another name and it worked like a dream.

Thank you for your support,
