Guest Additions on Suse 10.3

Post by donvito »

I'm a computer science student but I have not so much experience with Linux.

I can't install the guest additions on Suse 10.3. There comes a message, that I should install the GNU compiler. I tried this using Yast2 but it still not worked.

I think I should compile the additions for the new kernel but I dont' know how to do that... Maybe I can also download the newst version?

Another question: are the RAM recommendations typical or minimal? I think minimal because Vista with 512 MB is not as quick as it should be even if i deaktivate the Aero aurface.

Ich habe das gleiche Problem.
Nach Installation des GNU Compilers mit Hilfe von YAST habe ich erneut versucht die GuestAdditions zu installieren. Nachfolgend das Ergebnis:

linux-ub:/media/VBOXADDITIONS_1.5.2_25433 # sh ./VBoxLinuxAdditions.run
Verifying archive integrity... All good.
Uncompressing VirtualBox 1.5.2 Guest Additions for Linux installation................................................................................................................................................
VirtualBox 1.5.2 Guest Additions installation
Please install the build and header files for your current Linux kernel.
The current kernel version is 2.6.22.5-31-default
Problems were found which would prevent the Guest Additions from installing.
Please correct these problems and try again.

Kennt jemand eine Lösung ?

What does it tell?

Normally, you should compile anything. BTW, is kernel-source package installed? It is needed for installing the Additions.
