Issue 4870 claims to have fixed this is 3.0.8, but I still experience this problem, both when using intel 1000 and pcnet.

I think issue 4870 talks about another problem.

This thread discusses a problem with bridged networking that possibly manifests only with wireless interfaces bridges, while issue 4870 talks about guest losing networking on high traffic load, in NAT networking.

I have an Ubuntu 9.10 host and an OpenSolaris 10 guest. Bridged networking would fail after just a few minutes while I was using the wireless network connection on my host. Changing the type of network card for the guest did not help. When I switched to a wired connection on my host, the problem went away.

I did not experience this problem with an Ubuntu 9.10 guest.

I have vb3.1.2 on Vista sp2 with Win Server2003 sp2 using bridged networking with teh Intel Pro/1000 T Server adapter connected to my Intel Wireless Wifi card working seemlessly. I had problems trying to get it working with v3.0.1 but there all gone now with 3.1.2 :)

I have solved this problem on VB 4.0.4 (Windows XP) like this:

1. Change dir to C:\Program Files\Oracle\VirtualBox\drivers\network\netflt
2. Install VBoxNetFlt.inf (right mouse click on this file....)
3. Install VBoxNetFlt_m.inf (right mouse click on this file....)

After this procedure, bridge mode on Virtual Box working fine.
Reboot the computer, install driver for NET interface by specifying Oracle appropriate net driver from the list .

Good luck !

I have just tried this procedure on my Vista host but get an error message that an installaion cannot be made this way!
I continue to be unable to get the bridged network to function between my Win XP guest & Win Vista hosy since last November, (See bug report #7706) and am now very concerned at not being able to back up my XP mounted databases as a result.

Great info. This will save a lot of work and frustration from others who are looking to install VirtualBox on XP. I have this working fine except that I can do no web browsing from within XP.
