VBox 2.2.0 crashes when trying to add a new Shared Folder

Post by Soulatial »

When I try to add a shared folder and select the item to change the path, then right before I can choose the path, VBox crashes and my VirtualMachine is offline.
However, if I enter the path manually, everything works fine.
I just repaired with the Setup and rebooted, but the problem still exists. With previous release of VBox everything was fine.

Known issue. There are some stability issues with the GUI. It seems to crash the GUI on occasion. Linux users haven't reported this, so it appears to be Windows Host only.

When i go to the VMs config and try to add a shared folder my virtualbox.exe also crashes. I get the message that qtcorevbox4.dll is the cause.

I also have issues with adding shared folders on Windows Vista Host, Ubuntu 8.04 guest.
It is constantly crashing the VB GUI. Is there any workaround I can apply?

Thanks,
goran

*MS Windows XP - VBox 2.2.0

1. open the "C:\Documents and Settings\User\.VirtualBox\Machines\(Your machine Name)\(Your machine Name).xml"
(Wordpad, Notepad, Etc...)

2. Find "<ShareFolders>"
<SharedFolders>
</SharedFolders>

3. Insert ShareFolders, Name and Writable.
<SharedFolders>
<SharedFolder name="GE" hostPath="C:\GE" writable="true"/>
</SharedFolders>

writable option : true or false
true = Guest Write and Read
false = Guest Read Only

Good luck. :D

Airrainbow, you can also type the full path in the input field, it seems that it crashes when you open the file browser.
