I have the same problem
And yes, I can confirm that I've been trying to use VirtualBox.exe
And no, I do not use Acer laptop, I have a desktop PC
Version 1.4.0 works fine though.
Looking forward to see this issue resolved.
VirtualBox 1.5.0 cannot start on my windows XP
All, let's please move the technical discussion here, to avoid information duplication: http://www.virtualbox.org/ticket/630. Thank you.
I had this problem with VirtualBox.exe, and it is resolved when I disable extend support of text service to all programs, I have checked both options in suplemental language support dialogdmik wrote:Todd, ebiber, can you confirm that the problem exists only when you use VirtualBox.exe and not e.g. VBoxManage or VBoxSDL?

I un-installed 1.4 after making a backup of my \...\%user%\.VirtualBox\ directory.
Then I installed 1.5.
I too was not able to boot to any of my VMs.
I decided to check some of the new settings in 1.5 I enabled.
I dis-abled the setting "Enable VT-x/AMD-V" in the 'Advanced' tab in the 'General' menu for the settings for my VM.
Once I un-checked that option, my Linux & Windows VMs were able to boot again.
This may or may not work for you, but I'd give it a try.
I know my CPU supports virtualization, it's an AMD X2 2.2ghz AM2 CPU.
My host machine is running on WinXP Pro SP2. But, I might go back to 1.4 myself for a bit; since installing 1.5, my NT 4 VM doesn't like the video driver included w/ 1.5 additions; & it reverts to default VGA [800x600 w/16 colors] @ boot of the NT VM.
I have Xandros Home Premium 4.1 dual booted, but haven't installed VirtualBox on Xandros yet.
If you want to download 1.4, I'll have the following link up for a few days unless VirtualBox asks me to remove it.

Same Problem on my ASUS R1F Tablet Notebook - Host XP SP2. v1.4 runs fine - Thanks for posting Previous version.
Note v1.50 runs OK on old Desktop XP SP2 Host.

Failed to initialize COM or failed to find VirtualBox COM server. Most likely, the VirtualBox server is not running or failed to start.
The application will now terminate.

With 1.4 I don't have this problem. Does anybody have idea how to resolve this problem.
