VirtualBox 1.5.0 cannot start on my windows XP
VirtualBox 1.5.0 cannot start on my windows XP
When start virtualbox I have a dialog with following text
title: VirtualBox - Critical Error
Failed to initialize COM or failed to find VirtualBox COM server. Most likely, the VirtualBox server is not running or failed to start.
The application will now terminate.
Call RC: RPC_E_CHANGED_MODE (0x80010106)
With 1.4 I don't have this problem. Does anybody have idea how to resolve this problem.
Regards,
enis

Can you create a ticket for this in our bugtracker? (http://www.virtualbox.org/ticket/623)
You are able to use 1.4 after a reinstall?

Hi, I'm a brand new user of virtualbox and got the same error message here.
Relevant info:
Host - Windows XP - Serv.Pack 2 - *Brazilian Portuguese* on a Sony Vaio (laptop) Pentium M 1.2 GHz, 1Gb Ram.
Could you send me a link to this test build?
Forgot to say: I've tried the method FAQ suggests for Vista
Answer was: registration OK. But still doesn't work.
Thanks in advance.

Any progress yet?
Just wondering if there was any new clues or workarounds for the apparent VBoxSVC problem.
1.5 works great on my desktop - my Acer laptop running XP Tablet edition is another story.
I've tried nearly everything I can think of. The VBoxSVC definitely seems to be running in the background, but the VirtualBox application either doesn't detect it, or somehow can't connect to it.
I really don't want to have to check out a copy of the sourcecode to figure out a solution myself. Plz post any relevant information you may have to assist in finding a workaround.
Thanks!
