Mount USB in Linux/Windows Guest - Fail due to Windows 11 - core Isolation

Post by Big_Mac »

I was running into an issue accessing USB flash drives in my guest session. I did all the regular things.. reinstalled the extensions, reinstalled VirtualBox.. and still no solution.. It kept capturing the drive but failing to mount it in the guest session..

Then I remembered that in Windows 11 we have Core Isolation.. I had problems in the past with Networking device drivers. I disabled Core Isolation, rebooted, Reinstalled VirtualBox, enabled core isolation rebooted...

After reinstall.. The USB flash drives were able to mount in the guest session...

hope this helps someone!

(Note: while you need to disable Core Isolation for the reinstall of VirtualBox, It is very important to enable core isolation after the reinstall to protect your Windows 11 system
