NEMR3Init: Snail execution mode is active, Win10, Dell Latitude 5430, i5-1245U, VirtualBox7.0.6

Post by Richoopl »

Hi,
I have a problem with using full potential of virtual machine on Dell Latitude 5430. Snail execution mode is active despite of enabling all virtualization options in BIOS, Virtualization status in Task Manager "Enabled", Memory integrity under Core Isolation Windows settings disabled and trying few other tricks found in internet (like bcdedit /set {current} hypervisorlaunchtype off).

Some warnings form the log

This problem is visible on other Dell computers in my company.

I'm running out of ideas. Do you have any advices what might be the root cause in my case?

Hyper-v is enabled. See HMR3Init: Attempting fall back to NEM (Hyper-V is active).
00:00:04.735468 HM: HMR3Init: Attempting fall back to NEM: VT-x is not available

00:00:04.767427 NEM: WHvCapabilityCodeHypervisorPresent is TRUE, so this might work...

Thanks for replay. So why do I have tortoise in the bottom of the window? This processor isn't fully supported/recognised yet, right?

The reason is explained if you use the link in mpack's response and you read the guide. - Microsoft's Hypervisor is active on your Host Computer, so the Green Turtle appears to provide a visible warning of possible slowdowns in VM performance.

You have the tortoise because Hyper-v is enabled in the Windows host. Hyper-v often conflicts with VirtualBox, so having it enabled is not a positive.

That's strange. I also tried to disable Hyper-V and HV Host service. Still Tortoise is displayed.

I don't see that examining either of those dialogs is listed as things to do in the FAQ. I wonder why.

I don't know who needs to hear this, but my problems with VirtualBox started after I installed Docker Desktop. It enables some Hyper-V stuff, and following the instructions in the link provided by mpack's reply fixed it right up.
