Virtual Windows 10 installation aborting every few minutes

Post by IanFluidd »

Hi everyone,

As stated in the title, my windows 10 VM (running on a windows 11 host) is randomly aborting about 3ish minutes after booting it up, and after looking through the log I can't see anything really obvious, although admittedly I don't recognise anything there whatsoever. I'd appreciate if anyone would be able to have a look at it for me and perhaps offer some advice. It has sufficient memory allocated and 2 cpu cores of sufficient speeds.

Cheers, Ian

The first thing you should check is whether the problem still happens with the current VirtualBox release, i.e. 7.0.4. It is particularly important to keep up with releases in the early lifecycle of a major new branch, 7.x.

Beyond that, the problem is most likely because you have Hyper-v enabled on this host.

For how to properly disable Hyper-v, see: HMR3Init: Attempting fall back to NEM (Hyper-V is active).

I updated recently so didn't even realise not one but two new versions were already released. After updating my issue has been resolved (for now at least, if it returns I will look doen the Hyper-V path).

Thanks for the help!
