No, it does not boot from de network. In fact, it's the same disk file that I only copied from the Windows host to the Mac host. I also tried to remove the network card, but nothing happened.
Also tried Windows XP safe mode, it start loading the drivers and suddenly hangs.
As noted before, It was working normally under Vbox 6.1.38 on Windows and Mac.
One thing too add here is that all my WinXP vms use .vmdk disk type.
I would have to try a fresh install to see what happens.
This issue isn't limited to Windows XP. I have a Windows 2000 VM that also will not start. It gets through the very initial stage of startup, which on Win2K is a bar at the bottom of the machine that scrolls from left to right. Then the screen goes blank, and thats it. Normally the screen would go blank for a moment, then the Win2K splash screen comes up. It never gets that far.
I am having the same problem. I have been using an XP VM with virtual box for a number of years. Now that I have upgraded to V7.02 it no longer works. I cannot upload the log as I am being told that the board attachment quota has been reached!
NIckmitch, there's a forum bug or config limit over attaching things. 7.0 is having problems running some XP VMs. Please try a fresh XP VM, report what happens.

I managed to find an XP SP2 disc and created an iso image. The VM started and I could see a screen saying Windows Setup. It installed a few files and then said , setup is starting Windows. It stayed there for a short while and then stopped and the VM was aborted.
I also tried to install the iso on a different machine running Virtualbox v6.1.40 r154948 (Qt5.6.2) and it installed and ran without any problems
Hi @scottgus1 @jvidal @ChristophS,
I had exactly the same issue, my software environment:
* Host operation system: Windows 11 22H2
* Guest operation system: Windows XP 64bit
* Virtualbox 7.0.2
It has "Aborted" error after I upgrade Virtualbox from 6.1 to 7.0.2, there are many people need Windows XP too, please just let Windows XP run, even not perfect.
I am sure this will be sorted, but it may take a while. If you really need XP, stay on 6.1.40 until then. What features of V7.0.2 do you really need now?

No special needs, I just think version 7.0 is a big upgrade which may have a lot of bug fixes and code improvements or code refactoring.
