i am running vbox 6.1.38 on a win 11 host with up to date patches.
my guest is ubu 22.04.1 server. i have vdi's for /, swap, /home. space allocation for / is 200G, fixed; currently, 175G is free.
the drive hosting this vm is a samsung m.2, 2T, drive; 1.2T is currently free.
i have done fresh installations of vbox, then the ubu server, three times now, and all have gotten this error within 10 minutes of starting the vm.
is this problem unique to m.2 drives? is there a fix? the m.2 drive in question has posted no error messages in its logs.
i have never had such errors when running vm's on spindles or ssd's.
i would be happy to provide whatever supplemental info might be required to further diagnose / solve this problem.
update 1:
for each vdi, i have now selected the options for ssd drive and hot swap. runtime before crash is now 25 minutes.

Re: blkcache_ioerr
The only thing I can think of that might influence this in Virtualbox is the "Use Host I/O Cache" checkbox.
VM's Storage settings, select the disk controller, switch the "Use Host I/O Cache" checkbox opposite of what it is now.

Re: blkcache_ioerr
thank you for the suggestion. in the meantime, i have reverted to ssd and have encountered no problems with crashes.
