Bridged dropdown shows no host network adapters

Post by EdLudwig »

Also, when I try to switch from NAT to Bridged Network, in the Name dropdown, the only available selection is "Not Selected". The whole thing is messed up. I miss the days when this product would just work.

I moved this to a new topic, per One issue per thread.

There are a few things that can interfere with Bridged having anything in that dropdown:
  • pebcak error: someone turned off the Bridged option when Virtualbox was being installed
  • over-aggressive AV: blocked the Bridged driver without permission
  • The Bridged binding has not plugged in on the network adapter for whatever reason:

Uninstall Virtualbox and reboot.
Go to "C:\Windows\System32\drivers", look for any files called 'Vbox*.sys' (there could be up to 5) and delete them.
Reboot again.
If you have any 3rd-party security or anti-malware software, disable the living daylights out of it for a moment.
Reinstall Virtualbox using right-click-Run-As-Administrator.
