I don't know how to install .box files.

Arch Linux Downloads page has a link for VM images and the one for VirtualBox is a .box file.

Neither do I. Never heard of a .box file. Virtualbox can use ISO (installer CD images) and OVA/OVF (fully-assembled VMs). You could ask them what it is, but even better, look for an ISO or OVA. ISO's are available further down, under the country headings.

FWIW, Vagrant uses Boxes.

Interesting to know, thanks!

The Readme file that was linked in the 'Virtual Machine' section did mention Vagrant along with the QCOW images. No OVAs...
