VirtalBox in widnows 11 with hyper-v disabled performs bad for linux desktop

Post by abdul_bh »

I would like to know why my Newly installed Ubuntu desktop 22 and zorin lite desktop perform really bad. I use it and after 10 minute it hangs. specifically when i open any filemanager or apps inside the linux.

I am using latest virtual box 6.1.34 in windows 11, with Hyper - v Disabled.

Thanks, Abdul, for all the info! Very thorough information. We'll need one more thing to help: a log from the VM.

Please start the VM from full normal shutdown, not save-state. Run until you see the problem happen, then shut down the VM from within the VM's OS if possible. If not possible, close the Virtualbox window for the VM with the Power Off option set.

Right-click the VM in the main Virtualbox window's VM list, choose Show Log. Save the far left tab's log, zip it, and post the zip file, using the forum's Upload Attachment tab.

I had a similar problem. I deselected the Virtual Machine Platform selection in Windows Features. After that, everything worked fast and without errors.

Good point, fe3!

Abdul, your topic says Hyper-V is disabled, but your Windows Features screenshot shows "Virtual Machine Platform" checked. Hyper-V is still enabled. See HMR3Init: Attempting fall back to NEM (Hyper-V is active).

Interesting how much of a performance hit there is with Virtual Machine Platform enabled (huge performance improvement with it disabled)
