Windows 11 Battery Saver Mode Prevent Startup

Post by milkboy »

So I have this relatively new laptop for a few months now Running WIN11(detailed spec bellow).
I only use W7 guest, i migrated from W10 host, to run some old stuff.

So, I was just using the W7 guest, on laptop running on battery, i shut it down the W7 guest.
the continue using W11 host until it entered Battery Saver mode (didn't notice yet).
Then i tried to start W7 it would start the machine got some error log. (cant paste or attach log cause to big, cant paste link for new member) :(
after a few tries and reading the log, cause was probably memory/cpu locked, pasted bellow.
i'm not a boot log expert.
then i realize it was probably "Battery Saver mode"causing it.
i disabled it didn't work.
i had to disable battery saver and reboot the computer before it work.

This is probably a windows 11 / BIOS / driver issue, but just in case this is VBox issue,
does anyone else encounter this issue or know of this bug?

P.S Seriously attachment max is only 128 KiB :(

Yes, seriously. It keeps the server disks from filling up with dozens-MB super-hi-res screenshots of a black screen with a single cursor....

Zipped logs (hint) and pictures can be posted using the forum's Upload Attachment tab on the first day first post.

If you can get that error message to come up again, please post the exact text of the error message.

I guess oracle too stingy to pay for extra server storage.
Even the RPi foundation can do a 256KB attachment.

anyways here is the log for those who are interested.

Well, how about we suggest to them that they start charging a sub for VirtualBox, and then the VBox project would have a budget for server and forum maintenance?

Sure, but those customers get direct support - they don't use the forums. And mooching off other departments is not how large corporations work! If one section doesn't turn a profit (e.g. because it costs too much) then it's bye bye that section.

Here's what the guru meditated over:
VT-x/AMD-V/SVM status:
00:00:05.281491 HM: HMR3Init: AMD-V w/ nested paging
00:00:08.034821 Console: Machine state changed to 'GuruMeditation'
00:00:08.035105 !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
00:00:08.035106 !!
00:00:08.035107 !! VCPU0: Guru Meditation -4054 (VERR_SVM_IN_USE)
Your computer has an app on it, perhaps 3rd-party antivirus, that is stealing hardware virtualization from Virtualbox. 3rd-party AV has been doing this lately by enabling hardware virtualization for its own scanning. If you find that setting in the 3rd-party AV settings and turn it off, Virtualbox should start running well again.

The battery-saver mode was probably a red herring.
