A few days ago, I had a chat with an IRC user who also needed to completely uninstall Avast (common code with AVG) to get rid of the problem.

I find this also. Host is Win7 with both openSUSE and Debian guests.

AVG Version is 22.5.3235 with Hardware Assistance disabled and VMs still go into Guru Meditation randomly.

Now running in Passive mode and it seems to be holding up. I'll wait for a new update and see if it's fixed.
