Download vb 6.1.32 defective

Post by max22941 »

I have download and attempted to install win ver. 6.1.32 which attempts to install resulting in an error in the path. First install attempt indicated reboot was required-replacing ver 6.1.3.
After reboot the install errors began. Have not attempted to reinstall ver 6.1.3.

After looking at vbox folder and starting Vm(shows ver 6.1.32 in properties) from that location - vbox produces " Failed to install the Extension Pack I:/Downloads/Oracle_VM_VirtualBox_Extension_Pack-6.1.32 Result Code: E_FAIL (0x80004005)" vbox-extpack after showing an older extension pack and option to upgrade.

Also attempted to run Vm and received "Failed to open a session for the virtual machine W11.
Failed to construct device 'usb-xhci' instance #0 (VERR_PDM_DEVHLP_VERSION_MISMATCH).
Result Code: E_FAIL (0x80004005)
Component: ConsoleWrap
Interface: IConsole {872da645-4a9b-1727-bee2-5585105b9eed}"

Anyone have a fix for this?

Can you please double check that 6.1.3 is the version you start with as odd numbers in the third octet (the 3) are test builds and let people know.

One thing to try is 6.1.30 to see if the problem could be 6.1.32 specific.
Can you include the VB log for other people to analyse the log to see what is going on.

Highly unlikely that 6.1.3 is involved. Most likely a carelessly typed 6.1.30.

The error message indicates a version mismatch, with the extension pack I believe.

To continue this discussion please provide a VM log file. Make sure the VM is fully shut down, then right click it in the manager UI. Select "Show Log" and save "VBox.log" (no other file) to a zip file. Attach the zip here.

When running vm yesterday rec'd popup message update 6.1.32 available. Downloaded the version update and extension pack.
Didn't see any notes on Oracle indicating the update a beta update.

Saw other message when posting original msg - similar issues.

Thank you

Max, you put possibly bad info in your first post that leads people to think you are running 6.1.3 somehow, which is an odd-numbered version and is a test build. If you really meant 6.1.30, then please clarify, a la Mpack:

And please note: We need a VM log showing the 6.1.32 run of the VM, like Mpack requests. And Andy suggested a revert to 6.1.30, after you povide the 6.1.32 log, if you need to get your VMs going again.

Attaching several logs and pic of vm offering update
Hardening log; Log1 & log3 last log?

Looking at another's input- looks like I must completely remove vbox and start new installation. Do I need to remove all Registry references also? Note reinstalled vbt6.1.3 without a hitch 1003hrs.

Thank you

BTW attachments don't show in Preview?

OK, must be 6.1.3 then. Please uninstall that very old test build and use the newest 6.1.32 for the logged test.

Start the VM from full power off, not save-state. Run until you see the problem happen, then shut down the VM from within the VM OS if possible. If not possible, close the Virtualbox window for the VM with the Power Off option set.

Please right-click the VM in the main Virtualbox window's VM list, choose Show Log. Save the far left tab's log, zip the log file, and post the zip file, using the forum's Upload Attachment tab.

Ah, I knew you'd find the zero key one day.

Click the Details dropdown, then use the Copy button to post the error message via the Clipboard.

Virtualbox must be Run As Administrator to install the Extension Pack.

Looks like this one slipped off the radar, and also looks like your zero key is broken:
max22941 wrote:Version 6.1.3 is again appearing
Both logs show 6.1.30 installed with a 6.1.32 extension pack, which is bad. Extension Pack version must match Virtualbox version exactly.
