When I double-click on a *,vbox file on Win10 a popup appears asking me with which program I want to open this file (and suggests Internet Explorer).
This is obviously wrong.
With which App/program do I have to re-associate the *.vbox extension?
Why is this not done automatically at installation time of VirtualBox?

Just reinstall VirtualBox and don't prevent it from registering file associations.

Re: Double Click on *.vbox file wants to open IntExp. Re-association wirh ....?
I already re-installed VirtualBox but it didn't help.
BTW: I got no prompt to prevent or allow file associations when re-installing VirtualBox.
Do I really have to uninstall VirtualBox completely before installing it again?
I cannot believe that.
is there no other way to (later) setup file associations)?
Again: When I double click on a *.vbox file I am prompted to tell Win10 with which program I want to open this file.
Which program should I select here?

Of course there is, in the usual Windows Hosts way, using right click, "Open with..." and "Choose another app", then associate it with "virtualbox.exe" (if it's still a .vbox file you're talking about).pstein wrote: is there no other way to (later) setup file associations)?
The VirtualBox installer definitely gave you a dialog box with options for the install. File associations was on that dialog. This is the dialog I mean. Note the fourth checkbox. I normally uncheck the first and third.

Ok, thank you.
I could open *.vbox file
Regarding the dialog box with options:
It appears only on first installation.
When VirtualBox is already installed and I execute virtualbox setup.exe a second time then this dialog box is missing.

This is true: you don't get install options if VirtualBox is already installed, all you get are repair options. So you need to uninstall it first.pstein wrote: Regarding the dialog box with options:
