Bummer! FWIW Virtualbox is installed via the Windows MSI installer system. Web-search how to enable MSI logging, then try the installer again. Search the log file the installer makes for "error", and maybe it will show what Windows coughed on.

Take a look at these resources:

Basic troubleshooting steps for Windows Installer
Repair MSI (Windows Installer) 2.8.8
Windows Repair 4.5.1 (includes the above)

Some googling on that 2888 error shows that carefully running through the "Basic troubleshooting steps for Windows Installer" link above can clear up the MSU database glitch that is causing this.

Also try running the Virtualbox installer by right-clicking it and Run As Administrator.
