Hello,
I run Windows 10 Family as a host and Ubuntu 20.04 as a guest.
I have an old webcam (Logitech V-UAP14) that ran with Windows XP.
Windows 10 doesn't find a appropriate driver to use it and it is not working in W10. It seems that my guest Ubuntu 20.04 may deal with it.
Unfortunately when I connect the webcam, my guest doesn't recognize it.
I haven't been looking for answers to this problem because I don't know if it's due to VB or W10 as a host of Ubuntu 20.04 as a guest. What a maze for me
Does anyone get any hints how to succeed in the incredible journey?
Thanks.
Cheers

There are two possibilities:
- Pass the webcam through to the VM using a USB Filter. See USB basics and troubleshooting
- Use the Extension Pack webcam passthrough. See https://www.virtualbox.org/manual/ch09. ... assthrough

One other thing, if you try the USB filter: setting the VM to USB3 is supposed to be a better USB system in Virtualbox than USB 2, even if the device is a USB2 device.
Re: Connecting on my guest an old webcam ignored by host
I followed the link to thread "Pass the webcam through to the VM using a USB Filter" step by step.
I am getting closer because the webcam is found on my guest Ubuntu. Nevertheless, the device is still not found in the application (VLC and Cheese on my guest).
As this usb webcam doesn't work on my host, I don't think I will manage with the Extension Pack webcam passthrough.
Unfortunately, I might need to use the thread "Pass the webcam through to the VM using a USB Filter" #8: Asking for help. I attached the 2 logs.
Maybe it will help.

Try guvcview instead of cheese. Does it work then?
Re: Connecting on my guest an old webcam ignored by host
Yeah it works! Thanks a mega lot for your useful tricks. You helped me saving carbon impacts as I won't need to buy a new webcam.
Cheers

If you prefer to use cheese, you can probably start it with GST_V4L2_USE_LIBV4L2=1 cheese.
Re: Connecting on my guest an old webcam ignored by host
Eventually I would like to use the webcam with the video conference application JITSI.
My internet browser doesn't want to share the camera. It's not working at the mo but this is another thread unless I guess.
