Keep getting this error when I try loading my vm instances, i've even created a fresh instance and try to load an iso and get the same response. Can someone please help me out, thanks.
"a critical error has occurred while running the virtual machine and the machine execution has been stopped."
I am running windows server 2019.
Previously I was not having these issues.
I tried disabling hyper-v and virtual settings.

You are getting a triple fault. Change the OS template to Win2016, rather than Win2019.
Reduce cores to 2.
Increase graphics RAM to 128MB and enable 3D acceleration.

Additionally, you've disabled System > Acceleration > Nested Paging. This disables EPT, which is a requirement of Windows Server 2019, and inevitably leads to the crash when Basic > Version is set to Windows 2019 (64-bit). You should re-enable it for performance reasons alone.

I'll add on one other thing:
Go to System Settings, Acceleration tab, Paravirtualization Interface, set to 'Hyper-V'. (This is not the Hyper-V that blocks Virtualbox. It is a comm channel provided by modern virtualization-aware OS's to talk to the hypervisor they're running on.)

Thanks for reporting back.
Re: [Solved] Windows server 2019 - server not starting anymore
This helped me as well.
@mpack, may I ask, why exactly this combination of settings makes it work? Using incorrect OS template seems to be counter-intuitive.

For whatever reason, the 2019 template either has bugs, or Oracle's paying customers needed it that way. The new test builds are supposed to have the fix to this glitch.aviskase wrote:why exactly this combination of settings makes it work?
