Re: Kali linux stuck on logo screen
The file inside the posted .rar is another .rar renamed 'vbox.log'. The second .rar contains the log file.
I don't see anything wrong in the running of the VM.
Try increasing video RAM to 64 or 128MB.

Re: Kali linux stuck on logo screen

Re: Kali linux stuck on logo screen
You are over-committing RAM. On the other hand your VM could use a second CPU core.00:00:02.753359 Host RAM: 6021MB (5.8GB) total, 1963MB available
...
00:00:03.090106 RamSize <integer> = 0x0000000080000000 (2 147 483 648, 2 048 MB)
00:00:03.090349 VRamSize <integer> = 0x0000000008000000 (134 217 728, 128 MB)
IMO this PC is grossly under-resourced, not at all suitable for running VMs. Does your host PC really only have 6GB RAM, or are you trying to run a nested VM?
Anyway, the whole idea of VMs is to use hardware resources that otherwise go unused. There isn't much of that in this PC.
You only provided a small part of a complete log, so not much more can be said.
Re: Kali linux stuck on logo screen
I'm trying to run vm on my laptop which has 8gm of ram and 4gb of vram but I don't face any issue while running win7 and win xp, I just face issue while running kali Linux and I have ran win 7 and win xp at once

Not according to the log you provided, which I quoted to you in my previous post. Here it is again:Zomokk wrote:I'm trying to run vm on my laptop which has 8gm of ram
As you see, it says you have 6GB RAM installed, not 8GB, before Win10 takes its bite. And the fact remains that the logs you provided show you allocating more RAM than is available on your host.00:00:02.753359 Host RAM: 6021MB (5.8GB) total, 1963MB available
There is no question that you don't have 8GB RAM now, but if you think your laptop ever had 8GB then perhaps a stick of RAM has gone bad or maybe just needs to be reseated. 6GB is admittedly a strange number - normally it would be a power of 2, e.g. 4GB, 8GB, 16GB.
Re: Kali linux stuck on logo screen
Do you have any solution for it ?? Because I don't know why it's showing 6 gb

Re: Kali linux stuck on logo screen
I remember some years ago they were making PCs with three-group ranks of RAM, where a factor of 3 was involved.
While there is the slightest of the slightest possibilities a glitch somewhere is falsely reporting the host PC RAM, it is much more likely that, respectfully, there's not as much RAM in the PC as you think.
A screenshot showing the PCs system properties with RAM amount visible would help clarify the issue (uploaded with the forum's Upload Attachment tab, like you did the log).

Re: Kali linux stuck on logo screen
I proposed a solution in the final paragraph of my last post. Other than that, you could always give the VM less RAM, or use a different PC.
Re: Kali linux stuck on logo screen
I have total 8gb on ram but 2 gb is dedicated to Radeon vega mobile gfx and that's the reason it's showing 6gb

Re: Kali linux stuck on logo screen
Eh? Is that a marketing scam lumping together CPU and GPU RAM, or does the graphics chipset really share CPU RAM? If the latter then you also should be careful about using 3D acceleration with this host PC. That's weird for something that bills itself as a "gaming laptop".Zomokk wrote:I have total 8gb on ram but 2 gb is dedicated to Radeon vega mobile gfx and that's the reason it's showing 6gb
Edit: Just checked, you have not enabled 3D acceleration. I frankly don't know if enabling it would boost performance, but I guess that's something we can consider later. So did you try reducing RAM to the VM yet, as suggested? |
Re: Kali linux stuck on logo screen
I tried doing that but it didn't work either I will try with the 3d acceleration thing
Re: Kali linux stuck on logo screen
I guess it's not a marketing scam because I have a dedicated GPU and I have ryzen 5 3500h processor on my laptop which is apu and I guess the CPU ram shares it's ram with the integrated graphics
