Fedora in virtual box began be extremaly slow

Post by sramon »

Hello,
I had used Fedora 28 in virtualbox for a long time. I didn't change any properties, but the virtual machine began to be extremely slow all of the sudden. Could somebody help me how can I figure out why, please?
And how can I repair it?
Thank you for answer.

I see that the VM is running from drive D. What is drive D? (e.g. USB flash drive, USB hdd, NAS drive, external USB 3.1 SSD, etc).

You have allocated 4 cores (out of 4 cores, threads are NOT cores) to the VM, leaving the host running on fumes. Try reducing to 2 cores.

Next, install up to date Guest Additions. You are currently running GAs from 6.0.0. Btw, I see that you have the GAs ISO mounted in the virtual CD drive. That does nothing: you need to actually install the package.

Then, reduce VM RAM to 3072MB, increase graphics RAM to 128MB and enable 3D acceleration.

See where that takes us.

p.s. I don't see things happening especially slowly in this VM, but then the total runtime of the session was only 4 minutes.
