overlapping text in start screen

jusst installed win 10 on mac and vb. now done with install i cannot shut the vm down because when i go to the start menu and choose power icon it is overlapped with other menus and cannot get/see the shutdown, restart. if i got to the controll panel there is a lag or inability to display the window. Does this have anything to do with the Guest Additions CD Image???
