(Solved) All virtual machines reset after powering off

Post by Scuddles »

V 6.1.18r142142
Asus Z490-E, Windows 20H2, i5

I've used VirtualBox in the past and never ran into this issue before. Every time I power off a virtual machine and power it on it resets its self to the starting "imaging" point. I have three machines, Windows Server 2016, Parrot and Fedora at the moment. All three power on and immediately go to the imaging stage, selecting disk and setting up the OS.

The virtual machines function fine, I'm able to set up user accounts, configure VPN, and the machine functions normally after that. Once I power down my system and start the VM, its starting from scratch and none of my user accounts are there. This includes both, powering off the VM and restarting my host system.
Any suggestions on what I could be missing here?

Sounds like the vms are set to boot from the optical disk and you still have the installation file attached.

From Settings of each vm, eject the installation file from the optical drive. You can also clear the option to boot from the optical drive.
