Note: This is an HP Elitebook 8440p running Windows 7
I installed VirtualBox 6.1.18, then imported the SAS University Edition vApp .ova file. I didn't make any configuration changes. There were issues with the default configuration so I wasn't able to start Virtualbox, though I did try. I thought it just didn't start, but searching the forum I see that I should have been more careful in how I shut down Virtualbox, but this was my first use of the product.
I shut down my laptop last night and started it back up today.
I arrive at the pre-boot screen with "hp" showing in the center, "Press the ESC key for Startup Menu" showing in the bottom, left corner of the screen and a green cylinder icon in the bottom, right corner of the screen.
I have powered off and back on many times trying several keystrokes that are not registering. I have tried the ESC key, the F8 key (trying to boot into safe mode) and the caps locks doesn't show as being recognized so it doesn't appear that the keystrokes are being recognized. I've tried to boot to a Linux thumb drive (Kali Live), but nothing happens.
I'm guessing there is no hope at this point and that the laptop is bricked, but thought perhaps someone has run across this and has a solution besides throwing the laptop away. I really do appreciate any suggestions that could, at least, point me in the right direction. Thanks for all suggestions !!
