USB 3.0 PCIe card issue

Post by NeODarK »

Hi, I have a Windows 7 host and Virtualbox 6.1.16 (lastes at today) with Linux machine... I bought a PCIe USB 3.0 card and works fine in Windows but in Virtualbox Linux machine doesn´t work... always say device is busy... If I try with the built in USB2.0 of the mainboard the USBs works fine.

If I boot from a USB2.0 with a Linux live system and USB3.0 PCIe card work fine, Linux system recognize all USB3.0 drives... the trouble is only when boot Linux machine on Virtualbox

I checked all of "USB troubleshooting" help page and all fine

I tried too to install USB 3.0 eXtensible Host Controller Driver but the install program say that it´s not compatible with my system.

The PCIe "CSL" trade mark

Does anyone have this trouble or knows about where can be the trouble?

Thanks!!

Ok, then it appears that you didn't read far enough in the USB basics and troubleshooting tutorial. Take a look at post #8.

Kali Linux-2020-11-23-18-26-23.zip

VBoxSVC.zip
(1.08 KiB) Downloaded 8 times
kali-error-picture.zip
(137.23 KiB) Downloaded 6 times

Sorry for that, here is the info, when insert the USB, the virtual machine doesn´t detect it (it has the filter created in the machine)... I select the filter manual and got the error in the attached picture

Thanks for the data.

'vboxmanage list usbhost' sees the two devices you have filters for, so they ought to be accessible to the guest.

One thing I see is the VM's USB filters:
Index: 0
Active: yes
Name: Innostor Technology Corporation XT-U33502 [0006]
VendorId: 1f75
ProductId: 0611
Revision: 0006
Manufacturer:
Product: XT-U33502
Remote: 0
Serial Number: 20200518

Index: 1
Active: yes
Name: Kingston DataTraveler 3.0 [0001]
VendorId: 0951
ProductId: 1666
Revision: 0001
Manufacturer: Kingston
Product: DataTraveler 3.0
Remote: 0
Serial Number: E0D55E6CBD13F45158460CC3
From the USB tutorial:
Post 4 wrote:your safest bet for a basic filter is to fill in the VendorID and ProductID only.
Your filters could be too specific. Try the tutorial's suggestion and see what happens. If the devices still do not work, please provide the 'vboxmanage list usbhost', 'showvminfo' and guest vbox.log again.
