Installing VirtualBox on Vista 64bit

Post by TaoCA »

Hi All

Not sure if I'm doing something wrong or unsupported, but trying to install Virtual Box on a Vista Ultimate 64bit pc, and the setup is terminating with an error, doesn't give me anymore information sorry.

I already have VPC installed, but I wouldn't think that would cause any issues.

Any ideas?

Thanks

Unsupported.

VBox 1.4.0 runs on 32-bit Windows and 32/64-bit Linux hosts.

Well, I have a 32-bit Vista Ultimate myself, and even I get error messages up the wazoo because VBox won't install on board here. Even downloading the most up to date version of Microsoft Installer here on Vista won't even work. Blame the DRM that Microsoft put into this thing. Vista is far more strict at this stuff than XP ever was. This was even tho Ultimate actually does give you a license to emulate another operating system through Vista, which was nice. This isn't living up to Microsoft's side of the deal, is it?
