Install Ubuntu on external SSD with VirtualBox

I'm gonna get new SSD. Is it possible to install Ubuntu on external SSD with VirtualBox and then create new NTFS Partition for Windows (Shrink Partition) on the same SSD and then move SSD into computer instead SSD Enclosure? For Windows 11 i use NVMe SSD. I don't want Dual Boot and because of this i want to first install Ubuntu on external SSD and then move SSD into computer.

How you'd proceed depends on how you will run Ubuntu. When all the rearranging is done, do you want to run Ubuntu directly on the physical computer? Or will you run Ubuntu in a Virtualbox VM?
