When I go to upgrade I get this error message:
. . . that is a really strange name for the *.msi file so I started poking around and found this post:
viewtopic.php?t=102545
Basically I followed it's instructions and created a 6.1.4 msi file and pointed the install process to that and got this message:
. . . again with the bizarrely named *.msi file.
Thoughts?
Thanks for the help.

Re: Upgrading from 6.1.34 to 7.0.6 Error (Windows Host)
I thought I'd try simply uninstalling v6 and installing a clean version of v7 rather than trying to upgrade.
Turns out trying to uninstall does the same thing . . . it's looking for the C:\Users\...\AppData\Local\Temp\a5yil7xhioq0xukrywvcsa78\os56z5z46o5ufyzxwlhmbfq.msi file.
As a long shot, I converted the VirtualBox-6.1.34-150636-Win.exe into a *.msi file, renamed it (as the file it was looking for) and placed it in that directory and the system just keeps asking for the same thing without recognizing the directory and file that is there.
I even tried running the VirtualBox-6.1.34-150636-Win.exe file again (hoping to 'reinstall' or 'repair' the current installation).
The same message keeps coming up.
Any other thoughts on how to get this to upgrade/uninstall/reinstall?
Thanks for the help.

Sorry we missed this topic.
This has been the way others have fixed this problem before. Maybe a misspell in that random name?HilltopsGM wrote:I converted the VirtualBox-6.1.34-150636-Win.exe into a *.msi file, renamed it (as the file it was looking for) and placed it in that directory

Re: Upgrading from 6.1.34 to 7.0.6 Error (Windows Host)
Ok, it took me FOREVER to find a solution!
Hopefully this helps someone else.
I found the solution in this youtube video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pSU0IouuZOo
Step 2 in his video.
It had me download a piece of trouble shooting software from Microsoft located here https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/top ... f927e1eb4d
I've never had much luck with MS software solving problems, but this one worked like a charm!
Again, I hope this helps someone else.
Cheers.
