Host partition as virtualbox partition

Post by Multics »

Hi,

I've read the documents and FAQ and read the forums but I may have missed it.
Host OS Windows 10
Guest OS windows 7
Virtualbox 7.04

I recently upgraded from window 7 to window 10 and a few things just don't work on windows 10 but the data files are on windows 10. I'd like to just map the entire partitions from host to guest. IE I'd like Host H:\ to be Guest H:\ and Host G:\ to be Guest G:\ etc.

Can this be done? Win10 and the guest os may access the partition at the same time the if not I can deal with it. It is a lot easier then running the od system a couple times a month and xfer'ing the files via usb drive.

NOTE:I've only unsed the internet and Linux networking. Never setup or understand MS networking.

Thanks

If you can share host H:\ and G:\ as shared folders in the Windows 10 OS, then you can use a Virtualbox Bridged or Host-Only network for the VM, and see the shared folders in the VM using Windows' usual methods. Map the shared folders to your desired drive letters inside the VM OS.

That's a good subject for a web-search. We will help you get the Virtualbox network configured, though, when you get to that point.
