Closing a VM under VirtualBox causes my KVM to switch

Post by Mediawiz »

If I close (shut down or suspend) VM (running on my Windows host) under VirtualBox, it causes my KVM to switch to the next input (hardware computer system).

Note that this does not happen under VMware.

How can I stop this from happening?

This one is a puzzle, never heard of it before. What is the manual trigger you use to change the KVM normally?

Which hotkey is normally used to switch the KVM input?
If I remember correctly, there was a similar problem a long time ago which was resolved by disabeling the sync for the numlock state/led.

This happens to me as well, and it's very very anoying.
Not only when I shut down the VM, also when I work in it and release foculs with [Right][Ctrl]
I've changed hot key sequences but that does no solve tje issue.
I have a two port INTELLINET switch and I've tried a combitation of [Ctrl][Alt] with function keys, numeric keyboard keys.
Always the same the switch will toggle.

I have no idea if it will help here, but Martin probably meant trying the following command: VBoxManage setextradata <VM-name> GUI/HidLedsSync 0.
