Not all of the content of the CD is displayed.
If you insert a multisession CD-disk into the drive and mount it into the VirtualBox, then all content is not displayed. Can I solve this problem?

Re: Not all of the content of the CD is displayed.
Not by any means I know of. AFAIK VirtualBox mounts a single filesystem as a virtual drive. The filesystem can be on a host CD or it can be an ISO file.
VirtualBox also does not support audio CDs or photo-CDs.
If you want your data CD to be portable, make it as close to a bare bones ISO 9660 image as possible. I guess that Joliet (long filename) extensions are ok too.

Another thing to try is passthrough, but I think that too has its limitations.
User Manual, Ch. 5.9 CD/DVD support wrote:The standard CD/DVD emulation allows for reading standard data CD and DVD formats only. As an experimental feature, for additional capabilities, it is possible to give the guest direct access to the CD/DVD host drive by enabling “passthrough” mode. Depending on the host hardware, this may enable three things to work, potentially:
- CD/DVD writing from within the guest, if the host DVD drive is a CD/DVD writer;
- playing audio CDs;
- playing encrypted DVDs.
Do NOT send me Personal Messages (PMs) for troubleshooting, they are simply deleted.

It's a property of the drive, not the media.
VM settings, Storage panel, select CD drive on left, see options for that drive on the right.

Also, the Passthrough box only shows when the virtual CD drive is pointing at a physical host CD drive (It does not show when an ISO is in the virtual drive.)

Can I get around this error?
Failed to open a session for the virtual machine w72.
Cannot open host device 'E:' for read/write access. Check the permissions of that device (VERR_ACCESS_DENIED).
AHCI: Failed to attach drive to Port2 (VERR_ACCESS_DENIED).

Not with the information given. For some reason you don't have access to the host drive, which sounds like a host OS problem since VirtualBox does not determine host permissions. Check if the drive letter has changed, etc.
If you just want the VM to boot then disconnect the virtual CD drive from host drive E:.

Additional Information: this problem occurs if you use the virtualbox under the account the limited user. There is a second computer on which are installed "Ultraiso" and "VirtualCD" . On it there is no such error. Apparently, these programs somehow remove the restrictions of direct access to DVD-drive. Can you comment on this?

What would you like me to say? You seem to have observed something of how Windows works, not asked me a question about VirtualBox.

What prevents the Virtualbox from getting direct access to DVDs under a limited user account?mpack wrote:What would you like me to say?

As Socratis says: Windows prevents VirtualBox from accessing devices which the current Windows user does not have permission to access. VirtualBox has no special abilities in this area. If you have problems accessing a device in Windows then perhaps Google can find a solution for you.Peter15NTl wrote:What prevents the Virtualbox from getting direct access to DVDs under a limited user account?
